Tab. Ransys AM 20/5 mg

Indication:

Used for the treatment of gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

May be used in combination with antibiotics for Helicobacter pylori eradication.

Pharmacology, Dosage & Administration:

Pharmacology: Contains Rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+ ATPase enzyme in the stomach lining.

Dosage: Typically 20 mg once daily, preferably in the morning. Dosage may vary based on condition and physician advice.

Administration: Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Can be taken with or without food.

Interaction:

May interact with drugs like ketoconazole, digoxin, and warfarin, reducing their efficacy.

Can affect the absorption of drugs that require acidic pH (e.g., atazanavir).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Rabeprazole or any PPI.

Avoid use in patients with severe liver impairment unless prescribed by a physician.

Side Effects:

Common: Headache, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and flatulence.

Rare: Dizziness, rash, liver enzyme elevation, and vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed; consult a doctor.

Lactation: Not recommended; Rabeprazole may pass into breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings:

Use with caution in patients with osteoporosis or at risk of fractures (long-term use may increase risk).

Monitor for magnesium levels with prolonged use.

Avoid abrupt discontinuation.

Overdose Effects:

Symptoms may include confusion, drowsiness, blurred vision, and nausea.

Treatment is supportive; no specific antidote.

Therapeutic Class:

Anti-ulcer drugs; Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs).
