Indication:
Used to treat bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin infections, and ear infections.
Pharmacology, Dosage & Administration:
Contains Amoxicillin, a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death. The usual adult dose is 500 mg every 8 hours or as prescribed by a physician.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), oral contraceptives (reducing effectiveness), and other antibiotics.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Amoxicillin, penicillins, or cephalosporins.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rash, and allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding but should be used under medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment or a history of allergies, especially to beta-lactam antibiotics.
Overdose Effects:
Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and electrolyte imbalances. Supportive treatment and hydration are recommended.
