Fungison Cream

Fungison Cream is a topical medication combining Econazole Nitrate (1%) and Triamcinolone Acetonide (0.1%).

Ingredients:
Econazole Nitrate BP 1%
Triamcinolone Acetonide BP 0.1%

Indication:
Fungison Cream is indicated for the treatment of steroid-responsive inflammatory dermatoses with fungal or bacterial superinfections, including:
Eczematous mycoses
Psoriasis
Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot)
Tinea cruris (jock itch)
Tinea corporis (ringworm)
Pityriasis versicolor
Cutaneous candidiasis
Onychomycoses (nail infections)

Pharmacology:
Econazole Nitrate: An antifungal agent that alters fungal cell membrane permeability, inhibiting RNA, protein synthesis, and lipid metabolism.
Triamcinolone Acetonide: A corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and antiallergic properties.

Dosage & Administration:
Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2-3 times daily and gently rub in. Continue treatment for 14 days or as directed by a physician.

Interaction:
No significant drug interactions have been reported with topical use of Fungison Cream.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to any of its components and in conditions like facial rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, perianal and genital pruritus, napkin eruptions, and bacterial or viral infections.

Side Effects:

Rarely, transient local irritation, itching, or redness may occur. Prolonged use of corticosteroids can suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, especially in infants and children or when used with occlusive dressings.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Triamcinolone Acetonide crosses the placenta and may affect fetal development; use only if clearly needed.
Lactation: Small amounts of Econazole and Triamcinolone may be excreted in breast milk; caution is advised.

Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not use with occlusive dressings unless directed by a physician. Discontinue use if irritation or sensitization occurs.

Overdose Effects:
Excessive use may lead to systemic corticosteroid effects; discontinue use and consult a physician if symptoms occur.

Therapeutic Class:
Triamcinolone & combined preparations.

Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool (below 30°C) and dry place, away from light. Keep out of reach of children.
