Canalia 30 mg Capsule is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) containing Dexlansoprazole, used to reduce stomach acid production.
Ingredients:
Active Ingredient: Dexlansoprazole 30 mg.
Direction of Use:
Take orally, swallowing the capsule whole.
Can be taken with or without food.
If unable to swallow, the capsule can be opened, and the granules sprinkled on a tablespoon of applesauce; consume immediately without chewing.
Indication:
Treatment of heartburn associated with symptomatic non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis (EE).
Maintenance of healed EE and relief of heartburn.
Pharmacology:
Dexlansoprazole inhibits the gastric proton pump (H⁺/K⁺-ATPase) in parietal cells, blocking the final step of acid production.
The dual delayed-release formulation results in two peak plasma concentrations: the first 1-2 hours and the second 4-5 hours post-administration.
Dosage & Administration:
Symptomatic Non-Erosive GERD: 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks.
Healing of EE: 60 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks.
Maintenance of Healed EE: 30 mg once daily.
Interaction:
May interact with atazanavir, warfarin, tacrolimus, clopidogrel, and methotrexate.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Dexlansoprazole or any component of the formulation.
Side Effects:
Common: Diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, flatulence.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy Category B. Use only if clearly needed.
Caution advised during breastfeeding due to lack of sufficient data.
Precautions & Warnings:
Consider the possibility of gastric malignancy before treatment.
Long-term use may be associated with Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, bone fractures, hypomagnesemia, and vitamin B12 deficiency.
Overdose Effects:
No significant adverse events reported with single doses up to 300 mg.
