Indication:
Used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood glucose control, especially in overweight patients.

Pharmacology, Dosage & Administration:
Contains Metformin Hydrochloride, a biguanide that lowers blood glucose by decreasing hepatic glucose production and improving insulin sensitivity. The usual starting dose is 500 mg once daily with food, gradually increasing as needed under medical supervision.

Interaction:
May interact with alcohol, diuretics, corticosteroids, and certain antihypertensive drugs, potentially affecting blood sugar levels.

Contraindications:
Not recommended for patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, metabolic acidosis, or hypersensitivity to Metformin.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, and a metallic taste. Rarely, it may cause lactic acidosis.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Should be used during pregnancy only if prescribed by a doctor. Small amounts may pass into breast milk, so caution is advised during lactation.

Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor kidney function regularly. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.

Overdose Effect:
Overdose may lead to lactic acidosis, presenting symptoms such as weakness, breathing difficulties, and drowsiness. Immediate medical attention is required.

Therapeutic Class:
Oral antihyperglycemic agent (Biguanide group).

Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
