Indication:
Used for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus to improve blood sugar control.

Pharmacology:
Linagliptin is a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases incretin hormone levels (GLP-1 and GIP).
Incretins help to regulate blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion.

For patients with kidney disease: No dose adjustment is required.
Can be taken alone or with other antidiabetic medications as prescribed by a doctor.
Interaction:
With insulin or sulfonylureas (e.g., glimepiride): May increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
With rifampin: May reduce linagliptin’s effectiveness.
With strong CYP3A4 and P-gp inducers (e.g., phenytoin, carbamazepine): May lower linagliptin levels in the blood.

Seek medical attention immediately in case of overdose.
Therapeutic Class:
DPP-4 Inhibitor (Antidiabetic Agent).
