Pharmacology:
Linezolid is an oxazolidinone-class antibiotic. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the initiation complex essential for translation.
It is bacteriostatic against most organisms but may exhibit bactericidal activity against streptococci.
